Lose PCOS Weight by Avoiding the Same Routine

Motivation is a key factor in losing Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) weight and it’s especially true when it comes to making the effort to get regular exercise. Unfortunately, many people give up because they allow themselves to become bored with the same routine. The best way to avoid this fate is to vary your activities and seek new ways that lead to a greater sense of well-being.

You probably know that building up your muscles is a great way to increase your metabolism and burn calories and fat. But have you tried mixing up your exercises? Walking will strengthen your legs as well as your heart but vary things a little by breaking off occasionally to do some standing half-squats or push-ups on a park bench. Switch to lighter hand weights from time to time and move them through your exercise arc as slowly as possible.

Carry over your deep breathing techniques for exercise, especially through your nose, to everyday life in order to avoid stress. Physical and emotional stress activates the release of cortisol, a steroid that slows metabolism in the body and causes PCOS weight gain.

Buy some new exercise clothes. A new track suit, T-shirt or pair of exercise shoes will motivate you to wear them. You don’t go to a party in old and scruffy clothes and there’s no rule that says you have to wear this kind of attire when you exercise. Yet many do and it can be depressing to see yourself dressed that way in a gym mirror. Looking smart will make you want to exercise longer both indoors and out. In fact, breathing fresh air is infinitely preferable to the stale variety, so switch as much as possible of your workout from the gym to your backyard.

Music is a wonderful motivator. If you go to an exercise class and hear the same offerings every week, ask the instructor to vary the soundtrack. Create your own choice of music, whether it’s Led Zeppelin or hip hop, for exercising at home and change the running order regularly so you listen to different tracks. An i-Pod can carry thousands of songs and is so light that you won’t notice you’re wearing it. There are also cheaper versions by other manufacturers.

On a parallel theme, consider taking ballroom dance lessons. As well as being another form of excellent exercise, ballroom covers a variety of challenging dance styles, from Latin to the foxtrot, which will boost your confidence and the way you move for aerobics. It’s also a highly sociable activity and a terrific way to meet like-minded people who want to keep fit.

Regular exercise and a balanced, nutritious PCOS diet can help reverse Insulin Resistance, an imbalance of glucose and insulin in the blood stream which, if left unchecked, may lead to obesity.

All Insulin Resistance-related disorders are increased risk factors for heart attacks and stroke.
