Tea drinkers may have a lower risk of developing diabetes, which can often stem from PCOS.
Â
Researchers found that tea drinkers who consumed more than three to four cups a day had a 20% lower risk of developing diabetes.
Â
An analysis of 18 previous studies, involving a total of almost 450,000 people, was published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine.
Â
It is thought that compounds in tea, including antioxidants, may be involved in providing the extra protection against diabetes, as well as helping to prevent heart disease.
Â
Pre-diabetes, which is reversible via a healthy, nutritious diet and regular exercise to lose or better control weight, is usually the precusor to the type 2 variety. It’s diagnosed when blood sugar levels are higher than normal but below that of type 2 diabetes. If neglected, pre-diabetes can lead to type 2 diabetes, which is irreversible in most cases and may require daily insulin injections to manage the condition.
Â
Type 2 diabetes is a severely increased risk factor for blindness, kidney diseases and the need for amputation.
