Simple Ways to Eat Less Food for PCOS Health

Shedding weight can provide a major boost to the health of those of us with PCOS. Weight loss helps reverse the heart-damaging symptoms of our condition and it’s possible to achieve this major improvement with relatively simple steps

Here are some examples of what we mean.

Keep fruit on your table. Few of us eat enough fruit and seeing it will act as a reminder. Not only does fruit do you good but it also helps to fill you up and reduces the urge to eat fattening snacks.

Use smaller plates and tall, skinny glasses. Buck the trend toward dinnerware fit for a giant. A normal-sized portion looks ample on a slightly smaller plate. And several studies show that everyone pours less when they’re using tall, skinny glasses rather than wide, squat ones.

Save wine for dessert. Alcohol can stimulate the taste buds and cause uninhibited eating. If you enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your meal, have it to look forward to at the end. If you’ve followed our first tip above, offset the calories in alcohol by choosing fruit for dessert. How about dipping into a bowl of berries with a glass of Merlot? Why not try a rich Chardonnay paired with slices of ripe plums or peaches, or a sparkling white wine with clementines or strawberries?
