Tell-Tale Signs of a PCOS-Linked Silent Killer

Those of us with PCOS are particularly vulnerable to developing the cluster of increased risks for heart disease called metabolic syndrome. And one of the classic symptoms of metabolic syndrome is high levels of LDL “bad” cholesterol.

The latter is a silent killer but there are signs to look out for. The eye can provide a clue, for example. A white ring around the iris – the coloured part of the eye – is a sign you could be at risk of a heart attack. The ring is neither huge nor obvious. But it’s caused by the laying down of fatty material in the eye.

Also look out for small whitish lumps fractions of an inch in size in the lobes of the ears. These are another indication of a build-up in LDL cholesterol. Anyone with these signs should contact their doctor without delay.
