Dark, terminal hairs are due to higher androgen levels that are metabolizing down a more potent androgenic pathway called the DHT or 5-alpha reductase pathway. This is caused by inflammation, potentially stemming from insulin resistance.
There are usually other symptoms that go along with this. What else are you noticing about your energy, moods, weight, etc?
