Figs are also a good source of fiber, which can help weight loss for better cardiovascular health. So why not try this very easy recipe and make yourself a delicious and healthy treat?
Ingredients: 2 cups of light, dried figs, 2 cups of red wine such as Merlot or Pinot Noir, zest from one organic orange (optional).
Place the figs in a glass or ceramic bowl and cover with the wine. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 24 hours or up to a week until the figs are soft and plump. Drain and toss with the orange zest if you wish to add extra flavor and then serve.
