Feel Full on Fewer Calories for PCOS Health Part 2

Yesterday we reported on a great way to lose or better control weight for improved PCOS health by choosing low energy density foods, which can help you restrict  your hunger by making you feel full on fewer calories.

It sounds like a diet gimmick. But some foods, such as desserts, candies and processed foods, are high in energy density, which means that just a small volume has a large number of calories.

Alternatively, some foods – such as vegetables and fruits – have low energy density. These foods provide a larger portion size to satisfy hunger with a fewer number of calories.

There are several factors at play here, beginning with water.

Many fruits and vegetables are high in water, which provides volume but not calories. Grapefruit, for example, is about 90% water and has just 38 calories in a half-fruit serving. Carrots are about 88% water and have only 52 calories in 1 cup.

Tomorrow we’ll show you how fiber and fat also have a key influence on high and low energy density food.
