Olive oil is such a healthy fat. Did you know olive oil contains a potent mix of antioxidants that can lower a classic symptom of PCOS, namely heart-damaging LDL “bad” cholesterol? At the same time, olive oil leaves your HDL “good” cholesterol untouched. Keep in mind that “light” olive oils are usually more processed than extra-virgin or virgin olive oils and are lighter in color but not in fat or calories.
A serving of almonds provides 35% of the Daily Value (DV) for vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that may help protect against the onset of the cognitive decline known as Alzheimer’s Disease. Compared with other nuts, pecans have one of the highest levels of phytosterols – a group of plant chemicals that may help protect against cardiovascular disease. Lastly, walnuts contain lots of an omega-3 fat called alpha linolenic acid, which reduces C-reactive protein (CRP), an artery inflammatory marker that is associated with heart disease.
