Kim Sherman’s PCOS Story

Hi, everyone. This is Robin Nielsen, the chief wellness officer here at pcos.com, Insulite Health. This is a continuation of our series from the inside, stories from women who have been on the PCOS Five Element System. I’ve really seen some profound changes and who were brave, and willing, and ready to jump in with both feet, and really make a difference in their lives. We find these starlets out there in our community every once and a while and so we invite them in to interviews.

Today, I have with me the beautiful Kim Sherman of Laurel, Montana. It’s so cool. I get to talk to them from all over the world. She’s going to share with us a little bit about her journey. Welcome, Kim.

Kim:
Thank you.

Robin:
Start from the very beginning your PCOS journey. When did you recognize that there were some symptoms for you that just weren’t good?

Kim:
You know, probably right around the puberty’s area, fifteen years old when I started to have my period and stuff. One of the big symptoms was weight gain. As a child and a youth, I was pretty average in my weight, when fourteen, fifteen, sixteen hit, I really gained a lot of weight. That was really one of the biggest signs that brought me to the doctor, why it was happening so rapidly. That was probably one of the biggest ones, is weight gain.

Robin:
That happened in your teens?

Kim:
Yeah.

Robin:
Then, did you do anything about it? I’m sure you were so discouraged, so tell us how you were feeling when that was happening for you. What feelings came up?

Kim:
I was just really confused. I dealt a lot with depression and anxiety and just a lot of emotional stuff during middle school and high school. With that, I was really confused about what my body was doing. Along with the weight gain, of course the symptoms of the hair growth, and irregular periods started coming, and that’s what brought me to the doctor. Of course, they have prescribed me on birth control was the first out of the gate medication they’ve put me on.

Robin:
I don’t really know your path with us. You decided, did you purchased the Insulite item or did you join the Freedom from PCOS program first?

Kim:
God’s timing, I believe was really on my side. It was right when you were offering the eight class, the eight week class. I signed up for that and of course, the nutrients comes with it, yeah.

Robin:
Kim really jumped in with both feet. She started doing the Freedom from PCOS Program which is sort of an eight week deep dive into the five elements. We are not shy in any way in that program.

Kim:
No.

Robin:
We definitely do it all. We do it kind of big. We have this part of our philosophy is really our five percent solution which are baby steps over time because we know that if we do this small changes over a long period of time, they’ll be lasting. People will actually stay healthy. The Freedom from PCOS Program is really sort of 10xing that.

Kim:
Yeah. It’s like a jump start really.

Robin:
It really is a jump start. They really get some good patterns into place. Tell us your journey since you started the Freedom from PCOS Program. From the very beginning. From day one, like what were you thinking and what was starting to happen for you?

Kim:
You know what, I was excited. I really was. I was through all the reviews I read and all the testimonies of all the the changes that I’ve seen other women has, I was really excited and I was nervous of course since being through trying almost everything else and having no results. I wasn’t skeptical but I was nervous.

When I started taking the vitamins and stuff, I was okay the first couple of weeks. I really didn’t see a whole lot of changes but it was when I changed my eating, when I cut out the dairy and no meat is when I really saw a big change.

Robin:
Yeah, wow. Can you share with us some of the changes that have happened for you over this past … Well it would be about … You said two months wherein we’re coming up on the eight week of the program next week, so this week is seven week. You probably started the nutrients a little bit before. What have you noticed?

Kim:
I have released twelve pounds and so that’s one of the biggest physical changes that I have seen. I feel better. My anxiety has gone down. I still deal with it but it has gone down. I have recognized my cravings has slowly gone away. It really have. I was a big coffee drinker. I had to have my coffee. People knew when I do not have my coffee and I haven’t had coffee for about a month, I think, about a month. That’s a true sign of change for me. It really is.

Robin:
What would people say if you didn’t have your coffee? Did they say, “Stay away from Kim?”

Kim:
Yeah. Yeah.

Robin:
Don’t come near her.

Kim:
Yeah. I was moody. I was not pleasant. I really wasn’t. Yeah.

Robin:
Oh my gosh. That is such a great story. I just want to say congratulations.

Kim:
Thank you.

Robin:
Because remember PCOS program, it’s not easy. Right?

Kim:
Yeah, no it’s not, but I was ready for a change. I really was.

Robin:
But it’s the way.

Kim:
It is. Yeah.

Robin:
I mean, you know it’s so hard because when I work with clients, privately, they try to negotiate.

Kim:
Yeah. There is no negotiating here.

Robin:
Right. There’s no negotiating.

Kim:
No.

Robin:
It’s kind of like the rules are the rules and you can break them all you want, but then you won’t get here, right?

Kim:
No. You won’t get the results and you can feel the change when you go back to what you were doing before. I just remember how I felt before and how I felt now and there’s no reason why I want to go back to that.

Robin:
Yeah. That’s the gift, right?

Kim:
Yeah.

Robin:
That’s what keeps you going. You get to feeling so great that you will do anything to keep it going and that’s why we created the Freedom from PCOS Program because I felt like if our community didn’t see changes a little bit more quickly, they wouldn’t stick with it.

Kim:
Yeah, for sure.

Robin:
Now you know and now you can do more the drip thing because sort of know and you’re on that path and now you can just sort of keep it going. You said you released twelve pounds, huge congratulations.

Kim:
Yeah. Thank you.

Robin:
That in it self is so amazing.

Kim:
Yeah and it just kind of happen. It just kind of happened. I mean, within two or three weeks, the cleanse week is when it started to happen and I didn’t even weigh myself until two weeks after the cleanse. I mean I felt it in the way my clothes fit, but I didn’t even realized that I’ve lost that much weight until two weeks after I really started to eat well.

Robin:
You brought up a really good point. You know, our body’s getting to a healthier body composition is really a side effect of changing to a healthier lifestyle because it’s really just about reducing inflammation and it kind of goes to show you how toxins can play such a huge role because we really reduce the toxins in the cleanse program.

Yes. For sure.

Robin:
Try to help eliminate them. You released twelve pounds. You have more energy. You don’t have to have coffee to function everyday. It’s awesome.

Kim:
Honestly, when I did see the price tag of the nutrients and the whole system, I was kind of shocked but I really thought to myself, am I worth it and I am. That was another big, big hurdle that I had to overcome was the budget and fixing that and so if that’s something that you’re worried about or that’s something that’s stopping you from buying the nutrients or buying into the program, really look at yourself and ask you if you’re worth it.
