These are toxins – exotoxins – that can confuse the signaling that goes on within and between our cells. They can cause health symptoms like unexplained weight gain, infertility, acne, facial hair, mood swings, thinning hair, irregular menstrual cycles, major blood sugar imbalances, thyroid and adrenal problems, hot flashes, and fatigue, just to name a few.

The toxins I want you to know about today come in the form of pesticides on our food. Did you know that 70% of conventionally grown produce contain pesticide residues when tested? The USDA found a total of 178 different pesticides and pesticide breakdown products on the thousands of produce samples it analyzed. Buying organic produce is a much safer way to limit toxin exposure.
But sometimes it’s not possible to buy organic produce…That’s why it’s so important to know about the Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen. You can download the list right here to take with you to the market. Every year the Environmental Working Group tests produce for pesticide residue. The Clean 15 is the list of conventional produce least likely to contain pesticide residues, while the Dirty Dozen contains produce with the highest loads of pesticide residues that. Avoid buying or eating anything on the Dirty Dozen list!
